Matthias Weber

Document review assistant

Lawyers upload contracts; Claude agent extracts clauses, flags non-standard terms, generates redline. Uses function-calling for clause lookups.

Cut first-pass review time from 45 min to 8 min per contract.

Problem

Junior associates spent half their week on contract first-pass — comparing clauses to the firm's standards, marking anomalies, drafting redlines.

Key flow

  1. 1Lawyer uploads contract PDF + counterparty name
  2. 2Agent returns extracted clauses + flags + suggested redline
  3. 3Lawyer reviews, accepts/rejects each change, exports final DOCX

What I built

  • Document upload with structured extraction of parties, dates, key clauses
  • Side-by-side comparison against the firm's clause library
  • Auto-redline draft with one-line rationale per change
  • Always-human-approval — lawyer ships only after explicit approve

Limits

  • EN + ES + DE contracts only — French handled by separate workflow
  • Cannot send final document — always pulls back to the lawyer's desk
